Adoption

I'd like to take a minute and make a few points about Nam and me and adoption.

Firstly, I hope that you know more than anything in the world, Nam and I want what the Lord wants. We seek Him daily and ask for Him to guide us in all things. He always has and we trust that He will continue to do so. We study God's word daily, we are part of other groups that study God's word, we have intimate friendships with others to keep us in check specifically on who we are, we seek wise counsel when we have tough decisions, and we share our lives openly with a local church. We are ALWAYS examining our hearts and double checking what we hear the Lord telling us. Rest assured...God is talking and we ARE listening!

Secondly, this includes seeking God about adoption. We have now been on a fertility journey for over 3 years. OF COURSE we have prayed about adoption. OF COURSE we are open to any way at all that God wants to bring us children. And while we have looked into the various ways of adopting, several agencies, and spoken to our friends who have adopted, we simply do not feel God leading us in that direction right now. Not to say that He won't in the future, but that just isn't where He's taking us today.

Thirdly, I don't want anybody to think that adopted kids are somehow less valuable than biological children. Suggesting that we turn to adoption only because we can't have our own children somehow labels those adopted children as sub par. They are not! They are incredibly precious and valuable regardless of their DNA roots! Adopted children are NOT a consolation prize for infertile couples! While this may be obvious to you, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many people we encounter do not understand this! It used to be that even adoption agencies wanted to be assured that adopting couples were NOT going to have biological children!

Finally, many people have suggested to us that we pursue adoption because there are a lot of kids who need good parents. WE AGREE! Please please do not think that just because you are able to have your own biological children that this precludes you from adopting! There ARE a lot of kids who DO need good parents...maybe even you! So, just as Nam and I seek God in all things including adoption, we ask that you pray and consider and seek God on whether or not He would bless your family with adoption!

Looking forward to being a mommy and daddy...whether to my own birthed children, or to a precious heart God has reserved just for us!
